چکیده

Agel bait-resistantGerman cockroach,Blattella germanica (L.), strainCincywas collected in Cincinnati, OH. This strain exhibited a high level of behavioral resistance to Avert (0.05% abamectin) and Maxforce FC (0.01% Þpronil) gel baits. Topical application assays indicated moderate levels of physiological resistance of the Cincy strain to abamectin and Þpronil. Resistance ratios (based on LD50 values from topical applications) to abamectin andÞpronilwere 2.5 and 8.7, respectively. TheCincy strain of had a signiÞcantly lowerLD50 value to abamectin than anonaverseÞeld strain (Dorie) and similarLD50 values to Þpronil as theDorie strain. The aversion behavior (avoidance of gel baits) was therefore caused byfoodingredients in thegelbaits.TheCincystrainshowedavoidanceofagarcontainingfructose, glucose, maltose, and sucrose, which are phagostimulants to the laboratory strain. ModiÞcations of the inert ingredients in the Maxforce FC gel bait signiÞcantly improved the efÞcacy against the Cincy strain. The Cincy strain produced signiÞcantly smaller oothecae and lower numbers of eggs in each egg capsule than thenonaverse JwaxandDorie strainsofcockroaches, suggestingÞtnesscostsareassociatedwithresistance.

Detection of malathion and chlorpyrifos resistance mechanism in German cockroaches (Blattella germanica, Insecta: Blattodea: Blattellidae) using piperonyl butoxide and tributyl phosphorotrithioate

Introduction: German cockroach (Blattella germanica, Insecta: Blattodea: Blattellidae) is considered one of the most common household pests which can transfer pathogenic agents and also cause allergic reactions. Frequent and uncontrolled spraying caused resistance in German cockroach to insecticides. In this study we aimed, to determine the malathion and chlorpyrifos resistance mechanism ...

Assessing the Susceptibility Status of Cypermethrin resistance in German Cockroaches (Blattella germanica: Blattellidae) to Hydramethylnon Gel Bait

Background: The German cockroach (Blatella germanica) is one of the most important vectors of public health interest due to its involvement in the transmission of infectious diseases. Different insecticides are used to control cockroaches; however, resistance developed against most of insecticides has made them ineffective. Attempts should always be made to find proper alternat...

Laboratory performance of 0.05% fipronil and 2.15% imidaclporid gel

Introduction: Application of insecticidal baits is one of the most common and effective strategies for controlling German cockroach, (Blattella germanica L.) The current study was designed to investigate the susceptibility level of German cockroach to fipronil and imidacloprid gel baits in laboratory situation and to recommend its usage in Iran. Methods: This experimental study was conducted o...

Origin and extent of resistance to fipronil in the German cockroach, Blattella germanica (L.) (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae).

Fipronil, a phenylpyrazole insecticide, was made available in 1999 in bait formulations for use against the German cockroach, Blattella germanica (L.). We have investigated resistance to fipronil in the descendants of cockroaches collected just before, or contemporaneously with, the introduction of fipronil baits. Cockroaches were obtained in two types of settings: homes that either had or had ...
